My Summer Misadventures with Dr. Crygor(ED: "My" refers to Penny, Dr. Crygor's granddaughter)![]() Synopsis: Dr. Crygor and Penny have a summer holiday. What surprises might encounter them at the beach of Diamond City? Read on. There was, one day, a heat wave in the heart of Diamond City. Worse enough, it happened in the summertime. The people were sweating their bodies off. The heat made the sweat flow out more. At WarioWare, Inc., Wario rounded up all of his employees together for a staff meeting. Well, everyone, except for one member: the infamous centenarian scientist named Dr. Crygor. He was so busy with his projects in his lab, he didn't even hear Wario's shouting. "Staff meeting, staff meeting!" Wario announced. "We have noticed that the weather is above normal conditions. People there are thirsting for some heat-beating!" "Does scuba-diving count?" Said Mona. "Can we get rough on the coasts?" Said Kat and Ana. "DO WHATEVER YOU WANT! NOW GET MOVING AND PACK FOR SOME FUN IN THE SUN!" Wario screamed at the top of his lungs. "Like, say, some beach fun at our city's very own beach!" Wario's proclamation scared the employees into abiding by his command. Abruptly, Wario dismissed his employees. An eleven-year-old girl named Penny Crygor was busy taking supplementary classes in Diamond Academy, the city's most prestigious university. These courses that she was taking were about science, physics, and more. Meanwhile, far away from the coast, is her grandfather's laboratory. There, Dr. Crygor was sweating, as the air conditioner was in bad condition. Mike was about to melt away from the heat. Doris 1 too. Dr. Crygor needed to do something, or else all of his robots would melt. So he decided to call his granddaughter. At that time, she was at her own lab, busy poring over blueprints. "Hello?" Said Crygor on his antenna earset. "It's too hot at my lab; my air conditioner's broken. I don't know whether to survive all this sweltering heat." "I am gonna rust from the very high temperature," said Mike. Penny's answering machine picked up. "I've got an idea!" Said Penny on her huge telephone. Penny had eavesdropped on Wario's prior staff meeting. "Have fun in the sun! Maybe go to Diamond Beach and relax there!" Penny suggested. Dr. Crygor was very excited. He hadn't thought of this holiday before. A relaxation from working in the heat? Good choice. He agreed to his granddaughter's suggestion. "OK, remember to pack your possessions in your luggage. We are leaving Diamond City on the 23rd." Then he put away his earset into his ear covering. So Penny and her grandfather started packing for their upcoming holiday. For Penny, she packed a sunscreen bottle, a bento box, a one-piece swimming costume, a dolphin hair-clip, and a visor to protect her eyes from the heat. For her grandfather, he packed a waterproof spray-can (for spraying on his metal fixtures), a life ring, another swimming costume, some sandals, and a moustache catalogue. He also brought up two pet cages, one for Doris, and one for Mike. The day that Crygor had planned has come. Dr. Crygor woke up wearing his bedtime jumpsuit, and did callisthenics. He ate his usual English breakfast (he also farted due to the baked beans). He brushed his teeth with mint toothpaste. And then he took an immersion in his ice-cold bath. Dr. Crygor got dressed in his usual lab coat and jumpsuit, with something special worn under this outfit. He brought all that he needed to the Dribble Taxi, where Dribble escorted him to Diamond Beach. Mike and Doris 1 were in the cages. Penny used her Jet Tank One to blast her way into the beach. Diamond Beach was a beach with a very pristine ocean. Lots of people who were tired from routine work were relaxing, complete with beach chairs, beach blankets, and beach parasols. You might find some of WarioWare, Inc.'s employees enjoying the fun in the sun. Wario was slamming his posterior into a duck-shaped floater. Mona was scuba-diving beneath the oceans. 9-Volt was playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land on his Switch. He's got loads of game cards in his console storage case at the ready if ever he gets bored. Jimmy T. and 18-Volt were dancing to a boom-box. Kat and Ana were chasing each other near the coast. Ana succumbed to her running and eventually the waves got her. Ana screamed and wailed as she was left floating in the middle of the ocean. A lifeguard heard her crying and dove to rescue her. Ana nearly drowned, but she's now all right. Eventually, the Crygors arrived at Diamond Beach. Dr. Crygor opened the locks of his cages, releasing his robots. Then Crygor stripped off his jumpsuit to reveal a resort costume patterned with tropical designs. He took off his boots and replaced them with flowered anklets. Penny followed suit. Except she changed her mind and put on a dolphin-patterned sarong. It complemented her dolphin hair-clip. Crygor touched the waters with his toe. "Brilliant," he said, "The water there is just right: cool enough to prevent a human from sweating. Do you want to take a dip?" "Of course, grandpa!" Said Penny as she prepared to dive into the sea. "Just look at me and my swimming skills!" She did a somersault into the water, while the cyborg whipped out his life ring and floated into the sea. Crygor lay down on the life ring and slept, his visor switching off. And Penny was enjoying her time at the sea. Thanks to her graceful swimming, Penny can swim like a swan. Mike and Doris 1 just stood there in the sand. Apparently, electricity and water are not good friends. So all they did was watch the oceans without being allowed to swim. Eventually, Doris pulled out her broom and swept absentmindedly. Mike tested his built-in microphones and sang. Time passed, and Crygor woke up from his slumber. Huh? He noticed that he is now quite far from the shoreline. He touched his back. No jetpack attached. He was stranded. Mike detached his legs to reveal a rocket. He flew to Dr. Crygor and pulled him by his arms. He brought him back to where Doris 1 was. "Phew." Crygor sighed as Doris rested him upon a beach blanket. "I thought I would never see my family again". "That settles for a very brief truce with me and my creator," Mike said. Penny handed Dr. Crygor his jetpack. "Always remember to carry your jetpack; you might need it!" Warned Penny. "What if it explodes? Jetpacks aren't known to be waterproof, I'm afraid." Said a worried Crygor. "Then try to paddle while riding your life ring! It works wonders for your ageing muscles," Penny reassured him. It was now noon. People were gathering at cabanas to enjoy their lunches. But as Dr. Crygor remembered, "Oh, good gallium!" He shouted, "I forgot my encased luncheon meal! I left it in my lab! Woe is me." Penny pulled out her bento box. "We'll share the contents. I eat with you, you eat with me," said Penny. "Perfect timing," Dr. Crygor said. "I was about to pass out from being famished." And so Crygor and Penny ate from the latter's lunch box. Just then, Dr. Crygor noticed some secret ingredient hidden in her lunch box: banana slices under a pile of rice. He consumed these banana slices, remembering that bananas were his best snack. Bananas were Crygor's go-to snack as they provided him the energy needed for him to do his science. "Thanks, Penny. You really knew that they were my preferred snack," complimented Crygor. "You are truly welcome, grandpa," Penny replied. After his lunch break, Dr. Crygor joined Orbulon as they tossed Fronks into the tops of unstable towers floating on the water. This beach game is a test to see how many designated Fronks could balance atop towers. They threw dice. Orbulon went to be in the first turn, as he had the highest number of dots pointed upwards. Orbulon and Crygor then took turns tossing one Fronk onto a tower. This took about a couple of minutes, until... Finally, Dr. Crygor made the tower fall, and Orbulon was considered a winner. "Well, at least you were brainy enough to figure out the strategies of this game," said Crygor. "Of course. Remember: I am the smartest creature in all of Earth. No earth-ling may outrun me!" Orbulon claimed. "Grandpa, did you know there's an arcade near the beach? I just found out!" Penny said to her grandfather. "Really? I should try it out if I've the chance!" Crygor responded. Dr. Crygor made his way into the arcade. He had expected to see games like "Whack-A-Mole" and "Skeeball", which he had seen in his life. Instead, he saw video-game machines inside, which comprised the majority of the place! "Gah!" He said. "I'm too young to consume the enjoyment of these new-fangled games." So he left the arcade immediately. Video games were not his passion, in spite of him creating microgames for WarioWare, Inc. They didn't exist when he was a child. "How's the arcade?" Asked Penny. "Oh, it's just dizzying videos that juveniles seem to be interested in," said Crygor. "I'm more interested in science stuff than video-gaming." "Huh? How can an old man hate video games? I LOVE video games, especially Nintendo's!" 9-Volt screamed. "I'm sorry," said the scientist. "But I am much too old to enjoy them." "Well, think otherwise: my Nintendo Switch should have enjoyable Nintendo games!" 9-Volt handed his Switch to Crygor. Crygor chose a game called Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He's getting into that island life, he spent half-hours playing the game. The only gripe he had? The tools break frequently. Time once again passed as Dr. Crygor played Animal Crossing. "Fascinating!" Said the pleased scientist. "It's brilliant, considering that I live atop one, too." 9-Volt was amazed. "That game's epic! I spent weeks developing that island. Thanks for admiring my island, Crygor!" "And you're very welcome." Eventually, Leo, a rival to Kat and Ana, ran on the beach and accidentally kicked sand into Crygor's face. "Ouch! My visor!" Cried Crygor. His involuntary tears were running down his visor. "Oops! Just practicing my shape-shifting and puppetry skills..." Said Leo. The sand made Crygor's cyber vision blurry. He couldn't see anything. He bumped into one of the beach parasols. If you were there, you could have seen his visor glitch out. Penny noticed Crygor walking haphazardly with arms outstretched. "What's the matter, grandpa?" Penny asked, worried. "Someone, namely a juvenile, kicked dirt matter into my eyes. I think he had purple hair and an inflatable shark." "That Leo kid! I remember him by his wild, purple hair. I've watched him on live TV. He's brainwashed many animals into pursuing Kat and Ana!" Penny angrily ranted. Penny took off Crygor's helmet (revealing his small, beady eyes) and repaired the visor using her emergency power tools. The repair took twenty minutes to complete. "There you go: visor's in cherry condition!" Penny proclaimed. She gave the helmet back to her grandfather. "Thank gallium! I thought that I would not comprehend the beauty of nature anymore." Dr. Crygor was relieved. |
